Creating Useful Resources for Your Hospital: Client Success Stories R-C Healthcare Management's Medicare reimbursement expertise and experience is second to none. We consistently perform at, or above, client expectations. In fact, we've saved our clients over $2.5 billion since our inception. And our track record proves we deliver results. Here are a few of our many successful client relationships: Greater NY Hospital Association
R-C Healthcare Management has been
conducting wage index optimization
We recently completed an extensive WIER program for GNYHA that was particularly unique. We competed head-to-head with several of the largest CPA firms in the nation. Not only was our staff able to complete this substantial project within its extremely tight time frame, but our results far exceeded those of every one of our competitors. We increased the average hourly wages of our client hospitals by 2.7% versus our closest competitor’s increase of only 1% for its clients. Hospital Association of Southern California In the seven years we conducted wage index optimization programs for the Hospital Association of Southern California (HASC) members, we increased the Los Angeles CBSA’s AWI every year by no less than 1.0 percentage points, and as much as 4.08 percentage points. By conservative estimates, this increase resulted in a gain of $17 to $58 million in Medicare reimbursement. During the years we did not conduct any wage index programs, the Los Angeles CBSA experienced an overall decrease in its AWI of almost 1 full percentage point, or a loss of approximately $13.5 million. The HASC and R-C Healthcare Management have been working together for many years to ensure HASC’s members receive the most fully-optimized area wage indexes possible. This year HASC will again be offering a wage index project to its members, and RCHMS has again been endorsed by HASC to provide our wage index optimization services to its members. We are one of two vendors authorized by HASC to provide wage index consulting services for PPS 22. HASC is encouraging all of its members to participate in its wage index project and select a HASC-endorsed wage index consultant. A Medical Center within the California University Hospital System
Despite a hospital’s best efforts at
optimizing its wage data filing, factors beyond its control always
pop up. A case-in-point: CMS’ decision in PPS 20 to In the case of one of our clients, a renowned medical center that is part of a large California university hospital system, the disallowing of the millions of dollars in pension costs for the entire hospital system had a financially-devastating effect on our client's AHW and every other hospital in the system, as well as the Area Wage Index for every CBSA in which one of the system hospitals was located. The medical center enlisted R-C Healthcare Management to help minimize the damage. We found revisions that increased our client’s AHW by almost 1%. This increase helped offset the negative effect of the pension cost disallowance. Without our intervention, the AHW for this hospital would have plummeted by 4 times as much as it did. As a result of our efforts on behalf of that hospital, as well as our other Southern California WIER program clients whose AHW’s we increased by as much as 5.4%, we were able to stave off any decrease in the Area Wage Index. Iin fact, we successfully increased the Los Angeles CBSA’s AWI by approximately 1 percentage point.
R-C Healthcare Management has conducted highly successful wage index optimization programs for many prestigious academic medical centers, integrated healthcare delivery systems, hospital associations and renowned medical institutions.
