Providing Best-in-Industry Expertise:

Wage Index Expert Review (WIER)

Program Description

R-C Healthcare Management takes the Medicare reimbursement to new levels with its Wage Index Expert Review (WIER). This program provides an on-site, detailed analysis of the participating hospital’s Form 2552, Worksheet S-3, Parts II and III, and all source data contributing to it.

We trace every line item on the S-3 back to its source data for verification and reconciliation.  Then, we review the data for mathematical accuracy and federal regulation compliance.  RC-Healthcare Management also maintains a proprietary database of current and historical wage data for all hospitals throughout the United States. Our analysis includes a consistency evaluation of your hospital's wage data to these records.

After our staff fully analyzes all of the source data, we then research any out-of-standard areas .  In addition, we evaluate other data impacting the wage index that may have the potential to increase the hospital’s average hourly wage and thereby generate additional reimbursement.

Our experienced wage index experts works with each hospital’s CFO, payroll, personnel, reimbursement and nursing service departments to ensure we present accurate and optimized data in the Form 2552, Worksheet S-3, Parts II and III.

Why Use the WIER Program?

In a nutshell, here's why your hospital should participate in R-C Healthcare Management’s Wage Index Expert Review program:

  • Return on Investment

With our WIER program, each hospital’s projected return on investment increases.  ROI is calculated in terms of the ratio of dollars returned (additional reimbursement monies) to dollars invested (consulting fees paid) resulting from a percentage increase in the wage index.  Historically, we have raised our clients’ Area Wage Indexes (AWIs) in excess of one percentage point, and some by as many as FOUR percentage points.

  • Results

In a head-to-head competition in the New York City area, R-C Healthcare Management increased the Average Hourly Wages (AHWs) of our clients by 2.7% versus our closest competitor’s increase of only 1% for its clients. Throughout the country, we have consistently raised the AHWs of our clients, often by as much as 15 - 25%.  And, we have saved our clients more than $2 billion. • Experience

R-C Healthcare Management originated the wage index consulting industry in 1990 and has been optimizing hospital AHWs and AWIs far longer than any other firm. We have worked with more than half of the total salary volume of hospitals in the U.S.  Our proven track record includes working with thousands of individual hospitals and 30 hospital associations in 34 states.

  • Expertise

Every one of our wage index reviewers/auditors is a full-time wage index specialist with years of field experience.  We understand every aspect of the wage index filing, including the occupational mix and how to refine a hospital’s wage data.

  • Efficiency

Our wage index experts know exactly where to look for potential problems and how to solve those problems. We focus on areas and issues that impact the area wage index; consequently, most on-site visits last no more than one or two days. Since we perform all of the data research and analysis, the hospital staff is able to conduct its business as usual with little or no disruption.

  • Economy

Our years of intensive wage index experience allow us to accomplish a more comprehensive and detailed review in a shorter period of time. And since time is money, less time spent by us means more money saved by our clients.  We provide a pricing structure more economical than our competitors.

  • Follow-up

Our wage index experts are available at any time to answer your questions, address wage index issues and assist your hospital in defending its wage data revisions. We analyze every release of the Public Use File to ensure the data revisions have been properly input and used by CMS in calculating the AWI.
